52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks - Week 16 - This week’s theme is “Should be a Movie”

Week 16

The theme for Week 16 is "Should Be a Movie." What is family history without the stories? (It's a bunch of cold, lonely facts, that's what!) What story in your family should be up on the silver screen? Write about it this week!

Following their wedding “at the foot of a mountain” in Tennessee, my Great-Grandparents, Floyd and Barbara (Cunningham) Johnson followed Floyd’s family to Texas where several of their 13 children were born. Then the “incident” happened and Grandfather Johnson’s family ostracized Grandmother and the children. She contacted her family who had migrated to Nodaway County, Missouri and they went to Texas in a covered wagon to retrieve Grandmother and her children. A couple years later, they all returned to Texas to get Grandfather and then returned to Missouri where the remaining children were born and where they lived out their lives. They were hoteliers, farmers, and general laborers raising 12 of their 13 children to adulthood. Grandfather died before I was born, but I have a few memories of Grandmother who lived until 1974.

Do you have any stories that would make a good movie?

Until Next Time,

Happy Hunting!
